Pam Roberts Performance & Communication Teaching

Congratulations to all my pupils this year!

Congratulations Grace: once again you have passed with maximum Distinction! Grace is now studying her silver medals in Verse & Prose & Acting (a perfect combination for improving memory skills, understanding text and acquiring a range of performance skills. ) She is preparing for her future in the best possible way.

This year has been another successful year with marvellous successes in Acting, Speaking in Public, Verse & Prose and Reading for Performance subjects.

So proud of you all. You have worked hard for your achievements and it is a joy to teach you. Many of you have a lot of interests and school/work pressures but have all risen to the challenge.

Remember that taking any of these subjects are not reliant on previous experience or natural ability: they improve your confidence and your skills for life.

Not all pupils need to take LAMDA examinations. Many just take speaking in Public Courses or Speaking English as a foreign language for example.

Feel free to ask for further information.
Lessons are on-line or in person in Crieff, Perthshire.

I live in Perthshire (between Crieff and Perth). Variety is the spice of my life and keeps me up to date with what is going on in my professional world. Most of my students take certificate examinations and have been delighted to achieve top grades over the years.
I love teaching all ages and pride myself on preparing thoroughly. My background has also included Examining, Administration, Publishing and a Senior position working for the NHS and Local Authority which enables me to relate to a wide range of children and adults: nationalities, abilities and needs. I enjoy ensuring that the spoken word, in any form, attracts, entertains, fascinates, persuades or teaches the listener and increases the speaker’s skills, confidence and knowledge at any level. I want pupils to enjoy growing in confidence and learning to communicate well.

Find out what my students think

ANDY CULLIS: As an adult short story writer, with a plan to publish a book series, I needed to develop skills for performing my work. Pam’s training and guidance under her Reading for Performance module have been invaluable. Yesterday I read a short story for a large public audience. Feedback was proof that lessons with Pam have been effective in helping to unlock my narrative voice. I feel confidence and enthusiasm for the next steps in my journey. I recommend Pam to other writers, performers or any anyone seeking to engage audiences with their voice.

I started LAMDA two years ago with no experience. Mrs Roberts has been my only teacher and I have reached distinctions in both bronze and silver medals. Mrs Roberts helped me to pick pieces I would never found on my own that helped me to develop different styles of acting from playing a middle aged alcoholic to a Welsh miner in the 1920’s. I felt I had all the materials and knowledge necessary to go into these exams and I will take all of this experience into my future acting life. I really recommend Mrs Roberts style of teaching and techniques.

” I just want to say thank you so much for teaching me LAMDA for 2 years now. Thank you for helping me grow in acting but not just that but as a person. You’ve taught me skills that I don’t think anyone else would.
You’ve helped me to grow my acting career and help me get the LAMDA grades I’ve wanted.  I’ve been so lucky to have you as my LAMDA teacher.
You made such a great impact on my life and taught me core skills that I will never ever forget. Those skills won’t just help me in acting but also in life when I do public speaking or anything really.
I will always remember the moments where you pushed me out of my comfort zone, made me see the potential in myself that I couldn’t see, and helped me bring out the best in me.
I’ll never forget how you believed in me when I doubted myself. You’ve been more than a teacher to me, you’ve been an inspiration to me and I really really mean that.

Audrey lives in California and so like many, she too has her lessons on line. She has achieved Distinction level in Verse and Prose Grades 3 and 4 and Speaking in Public Grade 3 certificates. Next year she will be taking her Grade 4 Speaking in Public. She enjoys developing her own ideas and increasing her knowledge in poetry, literature and skills in how to engage an audience clearly, with a sense of occasion and entertainment. Above all, as Audrey progresses, she will be able to achieve whatever she wants to achieve in the future: I am quite sure of that.

” I’ve been doing lamda for 4 years with Mrs Roberts, I’ve really enjoyed taking verse and prose as it has widened my knowledge of poetry and literature and has given me the confidence to speak in public. Last year I did my Grade 6 (was delighted to be awarded a Distinction) and this year I am excited to be working towards my grade 7. I particularly like the personal aspect of being taught by Pam because she focuses on what’s important for me and takes an interest in developing my own passions. “

Useful information for students who are planning to apply for Universities or Colleges

UCAS POINTS

For the following Performance or Communication Subjects, when you pass Grades 6, 7 or 8 (Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals) in:
Speaking Verse & Prose,
Reading for Performance,
Speaking in Public Grades
You also gain UCAS POINTS
Skills learned in all LAMDA subjects and grades are skills for life that will assist studies, communication and interviews; in the workplace and socially. The UCAS points can assist in successful university applications but always add weight to any college/job applications

If you’ve taken exams from different syllabi, UCAS points can be stacked to gain more points. So, as an example, points earned from an Acting exam in our Performance syllabi can be added to the points for a Reading for Performance exam from our Communication syllabi.

Attainment Level LAMDA Grade 6 LAMDA Grade 7 LAMDA Grade 8
Distinction 12 points 16 points 30 points
Merit 10 points 14 points 27 points
Pass 8 points 12 points 24 points

 Some things to consider:
1) Not all universities and colleges use the UCAS Tariff.
2) Most international qualifications can be translated to UCAS Tariff Points. For more information about Malaysia, India, USA, Spain, Hong Kong and Singapore, check out Britannia StudyLink’s guide.
3) Use of the Tariff varies – some universities and colleges will list their entry requirements and make offers using only Tariff points; some will ask for specific qualifications and a set amount of Tariff points; and some will request Tariff points only from specific qualifications.
